Welcome !

Welcome to the online home of Boy Scout Troop 74.  We are an extremely active, boy-run, high adventure troop from Chelmsford, MA.  Our troop is sponsored by Central Congregational Church in Chelmsford, which is where we meet every Monday night of the school year at 7PM.  Learn more about us by exploring the links to the left.

Any boy aged 11-17, Webelos Scouts, their parents and leaders, or anybody interested in the Scouting program can visit us during our weekly meetings.  Click Here for a map.  Parents and leaders are also invited to join us at our Troop committee meetings.  The Troop 74 committee usually meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month in room 302 at the church.   For more information, please email our Committee Chairperson.

March Camping Trip *CHANGE*

Posted on Mar 13 2017 - 5:50pm

The PLC discussed last night a change in plan for the March camping event. Given the storm tomorrow, and the plan for a minimalist camping/backpacking experience, I was very concerned with taking the Troop into an environment we were not prepared for. One factor is the gear needed to do a backpacking trip in the snow. I know many of you do not have snowshoes or microspikes, for instance, and hiking snowy trails is not advisable without the proper gear. Secondly, we have not had enough time to properly train or prepare for a trip of this type.

Scout Sunday Appreciation

Posted on Feb 12 2017 - 3:16pm

Thanks to all who participated in the Scout Sunday Service on February 12. It is a wonderful way for the sponsored Scouting units (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts) to show their appreciation to the church community that supports us in SO MANY ways during the year. It was wonderful to see such a high level of participation from both Troop 74 and Pack 45. A special thanks to Pastor Rich for the freedom he allows us in creating and overseeing the service as well as the congregation for their continued support of all the Scouting programs. We would especially like to thank Doug Drake for planning the service.
