Our 2014 Summer Camp season draws to a close tomorrow. We leave behind many foot prints but take away many more memories. Until neat year...

Wah-Tat-Ca Week 2 - Wednesday

Posted on Jul 16 2014 - 10:49pm

Well it doesn't get much more exciting that it did last night in camp!?! At 12:30 AM the staff evacuated us from our site to the Dining Hall because of a severe weather threat. All the Scouts were well prepared, grabbed their shoes and rain gear and were out of the site quickly. Hats off to our SPL Josh who did a great job keeping the Troop focused and making sure the younger Scouts were well looked after. Even with the loss of sleep and the rain today we managed to have a successful day of program and a great night dinning with our parent and grandparent guests. We were even blessed with a spectacular sunset!! (pix attached) Looking forward to a dryer Thursday and Friday. Good night.

Wah-Tat-Ca Week 2 - Tuesday

Posted on Jul 16 2014 - 10:43am

We had a very eventful day today. It started with rain in the morning, followed by rain in the afternoon and topped off with a rather nasty thunder storm in the early evening. All are well, dry and still very much enjoying their week at camp! You will be happy to note that all out Scouts took showers today and will again on Thursday or Friday. We aim to send them back in the same relative cleanliness they arrived in. Each of the past 2 days the adults have been busy signing blue cards and working with the Scouts to complete requirements both for rank and Merit Badge work while still encouraging them to have time to swim, shoot, and climb. As this evening draws to a close with taps being played and the fire dying out, we are all very grateful to be spending a week in this special place. Good night from Passaconway…

Wah-Tat-Ca 2014 Week 2

Posted on Jul 15 2014 - 12:05pm

Good Monday morning form Passaconway and the Week 2 crew! We had a very eventful Sunday with check-in, our tour, the swim test, dinner, and the evening campfire! Our evening was wet, we feel your pain Week 1, but all the Scouts and adults slept well and are ready for our 1st full day of camp. Our 1st year Scouts are all off to Project Green (Totin' Chip and Firem'n Chit are very important to our 1st years as it was for Week 1), our seasoned Scouts are diligently working on Merit Badges, or simply enjoying the Wah-Tat-Ca experience, and the adults are working on their tans ;-) We are looking forward to a great week of advancement, MB work, fellowship, and some fun and games for good measure. This week’s shooting challenge will be a bit steep with me on the bow and Mr. Walsh on the rifle! I anticipate the Scouts rising to the challenge. That's all for now. We will check in again later in the week.

Farewell Week 1...Welcome Weekend Visitors

Posted on Jul 11 2014 - 11:17pm

Wow! Week 1 flew by and we now have 20 Scouts that have made new friends and connected with old ones. Scouts who learned new skills and refined previous ones.  Young men who have grown more than just 1 week older, in these past few days.  We are very proud of the work they did individually and as a group.  Several of our newer Scouts have not been away from home for this kind of period and they all learned to adjust and found their place in our group.  The older Scouts showed their leadership and caring by helping bring these boys into the fold and make them feel a part of our family.  Week 1 had its trials as many of the staff learned new roles or were working at camp for the first time, but they were quick to acknowledge and correct any issue no matter how great or small.
