Welcome to the online home of Boy Scout Troop 74. We are an extremely active, boy-run, high adventure troop from Chelmsford, MA. Our troop is sponsored by Central Congregational Church in Chelmsford, which is where we meet every Monday night of the school year at 7PM. Learn more about us by exploring the links to the left.
Any boy aged 11-17, Webelos Scouts, their parents and leaders, or anybody interested in the Scouting program can visit us during our weekly meetings. Click Here for a map. Parents and leaders are also invited to join us at our Troop committee meetings. The Troop 74 committee usually meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Fellowship Hall at the church. On November 21, Troop 74 volunteered at the Day Before Thanksgiving Walk, here's a link to an article from the Chelmsford Independent about the event. Some of our scouts are featured and there's also a video.
Last weekend,(10/27 and 10/28) we had a campout with the NEOC. (New England Orienteering Club) We got a few maps and we had to find our way in the woods. The only person that placed in the top four was Ken DePasacreta with third place on the challenging orange course. Below is a sample orienteering map.(Although not one that was actualy used on the campout.)
Next Monday meeting (10/1/12) is our troop's annual Family night. All scouts and their families are invited to join us to applaud the Scouts on all of the advancement earned over the summer and to meet the new leadership. The best part is the presentation of the "Nifty" awards for high adventure! Please bring a desert that feeds 6.
